History

I decided to tell the history of Iridescent Mess in a more epic matter... Shake it up?

My story of websites begins in a secret world called WebStarts. After a week of fearlessly attempting at creating a decent site with my cousin and a friend, we gave up. It wasn't a terrible disappointment to me because the two things we'd based the site upon were webshows(includes acting... which I stink at), and recipes. Two things of which I am not extremely fond of. So my time in the world of WebStarts was a shortlived one. From there I moved on to (Free)Webs (Back when it was still called FreeWebs). I used sitebuilders and constructed numerous sites of various names. None of these, however, survived the battle in the hierarchy of the webworld. I then heard about HTML.

HTML, a fearless warrior in which this site is based upon, was the turning point in my website life. I asked around and recieved a reply from Georgia . Georgia pointed me in the direction of many helpful tutorials and answered my questions when I asked. Electric-Moon.webs.com was my first HTML site. It was on Electric-Moon that I created my first terrible layout and began getting aquainted with the rest of the web. I met great people and by the time I moved to a different name on Webs, I was beginning to improve, if not by much. EscapingMonday.webs.com was my second HTML site. I moved there for a few different reasons. The name for Electric-Moon was rushed and I disliked it. I thought for a long time about the name and finally settled on Escaping Monday. I created one of the first layouts I wasn't completely terrified at, though it was pretty bad, and converted to SHTML (similar to PHP).

Applying for hosting at StolenRain (now closed) was not planned. I was accepted and my host, Jen, taught me how to use FTP. It was then that I moved on to PHP and continued on. A few months later I entered a contest at Heartdrops and won. The contest was for the site's first birthday and one of the categories was a drawing competition. From this tale I bring you this escape, IridescentMess.info.

The Name

Iridescent Mess is many things. Iridescent means (as taken from Dictionary.com) "displaying a play of lustrous colors like those of the rainbow." The name is a symbol of my life, a colorful mess of people, places, paintings, drawings, and life in general. It is also my bedroom, one of my favorite places. It is the thing I think of when I look at the messy paints on a canvas. It is mistakes I've made and things I wish I hadn't said. This website is a collection of my iridescent messes.
